Seapoint Golf Club
Originally designed by Ryder Cup Player Des Smyth and Irish International Amateur Player Declan Branigan, Seapoint golf course has recently been upgraded and improved by father and son design team Declan and Ronan Branigan. With magnificent views of the Mourne Mountains in the distance, Termonfeckin beach and the Irish Sea to the East, the landscape at Seapoint reflects all the qualities of true links land, with natural dunes, marram grasses and indigenous plants in plentiful supply. Much of the front nine has a sort of heathland quality, despite being sand based. But the last four holes, which run parallel to the sea, are on classic duneland which would not be out of place in Ballybunion.
Seapoint is a relatively young golf club but what they lack in age they are certainly making up for in terms of reputation! Recent reviews and articles have described Seapoint as “one of the up and coming links courses in Ireland”, “ a must play course for all golfers”, “one of the finest links courses in the world” and “choc full of variety and challenging strokes.”
