Roe Park Golf Club
Roe Park Golf Club is a challenging parkland course that is located outside Limavady, 25km (17 miles) from Derry City. Set in the scenic Roe Valley, the course was designed by former Malone greenkeeper, Frank Ainsworth and is nestled within the long, encircling arm of the Sperrin Mountains, Eagle rock to the north and the Inishowen Peninsula in the distance. It is a location rich in history and provides a challenge for all levels of golfers. In an area that is infamous for its links courses this provides a challenge of a different kind and is known as one of the finest inland courses in the north of Ireland. Measuring 6,318 yards off the back tees, the layout has two distinct sections, starting with the so-called Lower Five, where the River Roe provides a natural boundary but the course is dominated by Mullagh Hill, where St Columba is said have returned to from Iona, back in 575 AD, to attend the Convention of Drumcreat.
Centrally located for playing the courses of Donegal and Northern Ireland this course provides a welcome break from the challenges that the links courses in the locality provide.
